Art Brokerage; 1830-1880 William Frederick De Haas, a marine painter, was born in Rotterdam, Holland and studied there and at The Hague. He emigrated to the United States in 1854 and set up his studio at the 10th Street Studio Building in New York City.
De Haas is best known for his coastal scenes, many of Maine, and he painted landscapes also. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design from 1865 to 1880. During this time he also exhibited at the Brooklyn Art Association.
