Art Brokerage: Salvatore Gallo was born 1934 in the Calabria region of Italy. He moved to Toronto, Canada in 1951 and began to study art. The Italian-born artist Salvatore Gallo is remembered by his son, Andrew Gallo ... my father was a creator who was unable to rest, because in all things he saw forms, shapes that dwelt within nature or the human form. From deep within him he delved the depths of his psyche, he channelled his concepts, and he was the tool from which these forms could gain mortality. He created them from what he observed, what he felt, gradually gaining satisfaction from what he saw emerging from the paint, clay, granite, bronze, whatever medium he felt was appropriate to channel into the vessel of beauty that was his "creation". Beauty that had existed within him slowly became a reality, a solid vision hewn from nature's own creations. Salvatore explored the universe and indeed creation itself from within his own mind; it was from his internal space that he felt closer to nature to his creator. It was this mind set that brought him closer to his ultimate goal of capturing in time a single emotion, a sensuous movement, an object of lust or desire. He transformed solids into fluid flowing forms, creating movement in both the soul and the eye.
