JOHN OKULICK BIOGRAFÍA

Art Brokerage - John Okulick was born in New York City in 1947. He received a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.F.A. from the University of California at Irvine. He resides in southern California. For the past 25 years, Okulick's materials have orbited around a core of wood: natural sanded pine, redwood with 1,000 year old bark, wooden sticks, wood that is scored with a drawing line, wood that is painted in color, wood that is gold-leafed. Okulick has always provided the viewer with a sense of depth, depth of space based on his ingenious construction of perspective. Sometimes the artist attenuates the rectangle to exaggerate the perspectival view, at others he uses a curvilinear system that has become his personal signature.
