ERIKA RANEE BIOGRAFÍA
 
Art Brokerage: Erika Ranee was born 1965 in Philadelphia, PA and investigates the role of black women in American culture: the mythic women who symbolize empowered youth and natural black style and the negative rap video girls who symbolize the loss of natural black womanhood. For Ranee the encroachment on female black power "is an epic battle with no end in sight." Erika Ranee has received studio residencies, grants and her work is in the collection of the Crocker Museum of Art, Sacramento, CA.
