Born in 1981 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Alexis Kinloch is an artist, art historian and art administrator currently residing in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ms. Kinloch graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004. Following her undergraduate degree she attended the Toronto School of Art and is presently attending the University of Winnipeg. The artist’s great uncle, a pioneering bush pilot in northern Ontario in the 1960’s, was, by way of float plane, Wendell Beckwith’s lifeline between his hermitage and the outside world. Beckwith’s life and lifestyle was profiled by National Geographic magazine in their December 1978 issue. Alexis Kinloch’s interest in the interstices of science and culture inform her areas of research and creation.
